I was not one of those people who grew up knowing exactly what I wanted to be or do when I grew up. Fortunately, because I love to learn, am a quick study, and very adaptable, I've had a great career so far. I've been a travel agent, real estate agent, insurance agent, a big band disc jockey (back when we used to choose our own music and spin our own records), then moved on to news anchoring and managing, with a little IT work, web design and social media worked in. Radio changed over the years so I pursued another passion - Media Relations, Marketing, and Public Relations. I'm always looking for a challenge, love technology, and enjoy learning new things. I'm a great communicator, motivator and problem solver, whether it be directing one-on-one or leading a team. I was promoted from a Public Communications Specialist to a Program Project Coordinator, Program Project Coordinator, Senior, and in December 2021, a Public Information Officer and Media Liaison. Working as a Public Information Officer I oversee internal and external marketing and communications for County Administration and 50 different County agencies. Expertise in media relations, internal and external communications, crisis communications, social media, website management, creating marketing campaigns, event planning, media campaigns and buys and more. COVID-19 and vaccine messaging was particularly challenging given the variety of audiences but we launched a successful campaign with a message that changed from lock downs to vaccines and returning life to normal. Some of my clients include the Animal Care Division, the Office of the Medical Examiner, and the Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division, which includes Mosquito Control. My office is also one of the first agencies activated during a hurricane or other emergency and is responsible for all emergency messaging in Broward County, including managing AlertBroward, which is the County's Official Emergency Notification System, similar to Code Red. I launched the program and am the only person authorized to send Emergency Alerts. Successfully completed FEMA Advanced PIO Course and have also participated as a trainer/mentor.
