Profile bio

About Lorna Skinner

I fell into the wild world of Freedom of Information (FOI) in 2022 and never looked back... I manage the FOI Team across two police forces, managing the balance between risk, reputation, legislative compliance, and public duty, which my decade long communications career inadvertently perfectly prepared me for. Transparency and accountability needs to be at the forefront of the public sector, particularly policing. It drives public confidence, improves legitimacy, and keeps organisations and the people working for them honest.I still keep my eye on the world of internal comms, and try to keep those muscles ready through regular internal and external stakeholder engagement, messaging, and through my personal endeavours.Happy to chat about a range of topics, including (but not limited to): - FOI compliance and performance - Proactive publication - ICO engagement and complaint handling - Training and stakeholder engagement - Internal communications and employee engagement - Copywriting and editing - The film 'Singing in the Rain' - The musical 'Hamilton' - The Eurovision Song ContestI also keep a blog where I share poems and various ramblings - take a look if you fancy it.
