Directly responsible for the physical protection and safeguarding of DOL National Headquarters, DOL Nationwide facilities, employees, contractors, personal property, and sensitive/classified information. Responsible for the plans, operations, and maintenance of an effective security program for the Department in a manner that will protect agency employees, assets, and information. Serves as the department’s Emergency Response Coordinator and is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of the DOL Headquarters emergency plans to include the Occupant Emergency Plan (OEP), Emergency Evacuation Plans, Continuity of Operations (COOP), shelter-in-place and Active Shooter plans. Develops and revises guidance for evacuation and shelter-in-place activities for DOL facilities. Conducts regular tests, training and exercising of the building emergency plans; evaluates test results and develops recommendations for improvements to Senior Leadership. Responsible for the initiating and developing of DOL security policies and procedures while ensuring compliance of the physical security program within the Department of Labor. Provide security assistance, as judged appropriate to the threat, for the Secretary of Labor, Executive Staff, and Assistant Secretaries while making arrangements for extended executive protection for visiting Congressional, Cabinet members, State Governor and Foreign Dignitaries. Acts as the liaison for the Department for the management, review and dissemination of intelligent and threat information at all levels (to include classified top secret, secret, confidential, and For Official Use Only) as required by serving as the alternate Special Security Officer overseeing and coordinating access the departments Compartmented Information Facility SCIF) at DOL Headquarters. Current member of the Interagency Security Committee (ISC) Best Practices Subcommittee.
