I am passionate about keeping occupation at the heart of occupational therapy and was honoured to be named Occupational Therapist of the Year in the 2023 Australian Allied Health Awards. After graduating from La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia, I worked in a variety of adult mental health settings in Australia, Canada and the UK.I am presently an occupational therapy educator at Forensicare in Melbourne, where I support professional development of therapists and students and lead occupational therapy research, with recent and current research focusing on the experiences of occupational therapists working in solitary confinement settings, and the experiences of forensic mental health consumers in relation to disclosure, digital literacy and transitioning to community living. After completing studies in Health Management, I became a doctoral candidate with Monash University (supported by an Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship) where my research focusses on the implementation and evaluation of occupational formulation. This has led to opportunities to provide teaching and coaching about occupational formulation to occupational therapy teams in Australia and New Zealand. After receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback from hundreds of occupational therapists who attended these sessions, she founded OccupationalFormulation.​com to enable more occupational therapists to easily access training, resources and support for implementing occupational formulation in their practice.
