Regional leader with Decoding Dyslexia Virginia (DDVA) focused on community outreach to educate professionals and parents about dyslexia. Actively lobbied state legislators and provided testimony regarding the critical need to appropriately train our teachers. On behalf of DDVA, worked effectively with the VA PTA and VEA to help pass the first Virginia law (HB842) for dyslexia.

Leads the work of a special education advisory committee for the Loudoun County School Board. This committee focuses their efforts on informing the school division of the unique needs in the education of children with disabilities, reviews policies and procedures for the division of special education prior to submission to the local School Board and assists the local school division in interpreting educational plans for special education students.

Chaired a subcommittee formed in response to public comment, changes at the state level, legislation for teacher awareness training , VDOE data on reading performance for students with specific learning disabilities to include dyslexia. The subcommittee's objectives to ensure that parents students and educational staff have the information and resources available to appropriate identify, support and remediate dyslexia and dyslexic students in Loudoun County Public Schools.
