As Unit Head, my role focuses on designing with senior leaders and researchers knowledge mobilisation strategies from a systems level to individual project level, planning and leading engagement opportunities with stakeholders (internal and external, including Ministry colleagues, schools and community agencies) to understand their research needs and to broker between researchers and stakeholders. As such, I regularly engage researchers from varied fields and MOE colleagues. For this new group set up, I co-led the budgeting and proposal of a new office that brings together other units to support research translation and engagement. Systems thinking, effective communications to different audiences, and use of different engagement and evaluation tools are essential skillsets for my role. As a team lead, my leadership philosophy is one of servant leadership and I lead by example in active learning and growing to serve well. I also served in the NIE Organisational Taskforce for the Institute and was an emcee at the NIE's flagship Redesigning Pedagogy International Conference 2022 and 2024, as well as Q&A moderator for a keynote speech.My research projects look into the knowledge mobilisation needs assessment of faculty members, factors that contribute to research impact, developing a translation model for a research centre at NIE, and impact categorisation and indicators development.

As a team lead, I lead the KMb team to engage stakeholders (education researchers and policy actors / influencers) to disseminate research in plain language summaries and engaging formats to reach different target audience, and to build their capacity in translating education research into teaching practice and the institute's programme. Other areas of work include such as reporting and presenting to various audiences on knowledge mobilisation and research impact matters, conducting needs assessments of researchers, doing literature reviews, etc. I also served in the International Reputation Building Taskforce at the Institute. Passionate about bridging the gap between research and practice, I undertook the Certificate on Knowledge Mobilisation by University Of Guelph, Ontario, Canada in 2022 and was awarded Distinction.

I'm an Education Analyst within the Knowledge Mobilisation unit at the Office of Education Research in the Institute. I focus on understanding and pushing for knowledge mobilisation efforts by the Institute to policy makers, academics and teaching practitioners to improve education. I'm passionate about making research accessible to end-users, especially educators to help them use evidence-based practices in their everyday teaching.

Three-month contract stint at a Think-tank-turned-Social-Enterprise. Worked on developing a wiki page on Digital Intelligence (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_intelligence), supported the research work behind the DQ24 competencies, and developed the application forms and processes for the DQ Seal programme

I work for a church that focuses on supporting post-graduate students in Oxford in their academics and Christian faith. I lead weekly studies related to faith and academics and give talks to adults and at school assemblies. I also administrate programs and seminars for 100+ post-graduate Oxford students.Sept 2017 to July 2019: Reaching out to the community around the church, I organise weekly mid-week clubs, engaging girls aged 7 to 11 pastorally and with the Christian faith. Aug 2018 to July 2019: I was in charge of the weekly operations for an evening church service of more than 200 people, managing the details and logistics and coordinating more than a dozen weekly volunteers. Projects involved: I helped plan and host events as part of a city-wide initiative to welcome more than 100 international students at the beginning of term in October 2017 and 2018. I also oversaw the planning and budget for a Postgraduates Weekend Away retreat of 70 students in November 2018.

Gan Eng Seng Primary school2010-2016: As a teacher, I taught English to two classes of primary school pupils each year, designing teaching and assessment tools for pupil learning and engagement.2012-2016: A teaching mentor to trainee teachers and STELLAR mentor (Strategies for English Language Learning and Reading) to English teachers. The STELLAR programme is part of the national English curriculum. I regularly trained teachers on the different aspects of the programme and did classroom observations for feedback.2013: Internally appointed to be part of the school’s middle management team 2014: Official appointment by the Ministry of Education as Level Head of English Department2015-2016: Headed the department in the absence of a Head of Department, supporting the running of the school. Budgeted department needs and ensure its appropriate execution. Oversaw teachers’ training and development. Vetted all English Language test and examination papers to ensure compliance to national requirements. Overhauled the internal English oral examination process and marking procedures in 2015. Ensured the processes for all high-stakes tests were sound and examination measures were fair and valid.For the national Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE):2014 - 2016: Appointed Chief Oral Examination (COE)2015: Appointed Supervisor, Oral Examination (SOE) and Assistant Supervisor Marking (ASM)Multitasking as a teacher and as a head of department in the interim period required much personal management, strategic planning and people management. These are some of my strengths and developed capabilities in the course of my time as an educator.
