NYC Men Teach organizes ELL workshops on a monthly basis. As a cohort member, I meet with other teachers from all over the city in various content areas to apply strategies and discuss outcomes and improvement plans regarding ELL learners in our classrooms.

In year 2017-2018, two lead fellows organized a cross content team of 12 teachers in the content area of Math, ELA, Science, and Social Studies to study the impact of academic language protocol has on transitioning level English Language Learners. For this year 2018-2019, our focus population is colored, long term English Language Learners who also have IEPs. We are implementing academic scaffolds to examine the impact on such population through PDSA cycles. The Continuous Learning team works to build the capacity of adults across the system to identify problems, iterate new approaches, measure impact, and develop sustainable improvement. The team helps schools, boroughs, districts, and central office staff focus on the how of school improvement by providing broad support through resources and centralized professional learning opportunities while also providing deep support through direct coaching in small cohorts of schools, districts, boroughs, and central teams. Continuous Learning team goals 2016-17 Targeted stakeholders will develop their ability to support colleagues to engage in cycles of learning, through knowledge, skills, resources, and structures.Targeted stakeholders will make measurable progress toward solving an authentic problem that impacts student outcomes/educator practice/conditions for schools through engagement in the steps of a complete cycle of learning.Targeted stakeholders will develop a deep understanding of inquiry tools and be able to apply tools with confidence.Targeted stakeholders will develop an improvement mindset.

The first class of Mandela Washington Fellows arrived in June 2015 for six weeks of intensive executive leadership training, networking, and skills building, followed by a Presidential Summit in Washington, D.C. Through this initiative, young African leaders are gaining the skills and connections they need to accelerate their own career trajectories and contribute more robustly to strengthening democratic institutions, spurring economic growth, and enhancing peace and security in Africa. Wagner College is one of leadershipinstitutes selected by State Department to provide training for fellows on civic leadership.

Worked as PA with a group of 10 to 12 teachers who travelled during the summer as Astor International Fellows with NYU Steinhardt faculty and staff to explore intercultural dimensions of teaching and learning in Shanghai and Beijing.
