About Lorraine Lordan

I have been working the animation industry for many years, since leaving college in 1999. Commencing with 2 years experience in The Cartoon Saloon, I then traveled to the Czech Republic, working on Paz (also known as The Paz Show), a TV Series screened in the US. My next port of call was Germany, where I worked for the first time on a Flash animated TV Series, called "Tom", as well as freelancing on other commercial projects. I returned to Ireland in 2003, becoming a founding member of A Man & Ink. Since then I've worked as Animation Director on TV Series such as Ish’hafan and Joe & Jack as well as Directing on a number festival trailers and adverts for the Galway Film Fleadh.I've had the opportunity to travel as an Overseas Director, visiting and working with studios in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It was a very challenging but rewarding experience as an Animation Director.I then had the great pleasure of working with Mackinnon and Saunders on their series, Wanda and the Alien, a 52 x 10 minutes episode series based on the much-loved books by award-winning writer/illustrator Sue Hendra, featuring a little girl rabbit who befriends an alien.I have since returned to Animation Direction, first on Season 2 of award winning Puffin Rock with Cartoon and Dog Ears and then with Cartoon Saloon on their Feature Film The Breadwinner. From there I made stepped up to the role of Assistant Supervising Director on the Amazon Prime TV series Pete the Cat. I then had the opportunity to write and direct a Short Film called "A Cat called Jam" which has featured in festivals across the world. It was shortlisted for Best Family Film at a number of festivals and I am proud to say that it took home the awards at the Deep in the Heart Film Festival.I followed this up by taking on the role of Assistant Director on the Feature Film, Puffin Rock and the New Friends. During this time I was responsible for liaising with the overseas co-production studios and also directed a flashback sequence within the film. Puffin Rock and the New Friends will be in cinemas in the summer of 2023.
