My name is Lorraine Ross and I grew up in Toronto, Canada in the executive search business. I was exposed to the recruiting world early on and found it perfectly suited my strengths as a people-person and a connector. I also saw discrepancies, bias and prejudice and from this came the seed of the idea for Microquest. Microquest was founded in 1990 by my husband Marcus and myself after careers in executive search. Our diversity focus began 25 years ago with Microquest's Shattering the Glass Ceiling database. Our goal was to provide the recruiting world with a tool with which to identify women and minorities, break out of "old boy networks" and bring opportunities to this diverse talent pool, thus ensuring balance in candidate slates. In other words, we wanted to create a conduit for entry into the executive office suite and on corporate boards for ALL underrepresented groups. Today, we track from individual, staff level contributors to the top of the pyramid. We have made progress. We have a long way to go.I love what I do - meeting people, making connections, acting as a catalyst, helping people find opportunity and helping opportunity find the right people. My heartfelt belief is that each person is like a "scratch & win" lottery ticket-- there is a valuable prize revealed beneath each surface.
