I'm a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) with experience in the private sector, higher education, and local government. 🚀 As Georges Doriot once said, “Without action, the world would still be an idea.” I love building programs, teams, and organizations from scratch to execute vision into reality. 💼 I currently lead the operations, strategy, and growth of a woman-owned firm focused on crisis management and business continuity planning. 💡 Guided by my quest for a more inclusive and innovative field of practice, I founded the Emergency Management Growth Initiative (EMGI), a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with the mission to make the emergency management profession more visible and accessible. Examples of our initiatives include:• EM as a Career | A series of panels introducing emergency management as a viable career path to students and professionals in adjacent fields (e.g., public health, military).• Field Notes | A tailored newsletter for a more empathic, inclusive, and accessible field of practice.• Emergency Talk Dinner Series | An informal way for a few emergency management practitioners or the like to come together over food to meet, chat and discuss topics advancing the emergency management profession.👩‍👧‍👦 Children and families tend to be an after-thought in the disaster response ecosystem.
