I am a risk, control and compliance practitioner and have approximately 20 years of experience working with both financial institutions, as well as other industry clients. With an Engineering degree from National University of Singapore (NUS), I started my career with a Systems Integrator (SI) firm, working on IT system and security controls implementation with government clients, before moving on to an assurance and advisory role with a consultancy firm. During the years there, I have scoped and led teams in numerous external assurance inspections to successful deliveries in Singapore, including global clients from US, UK and India. My career in the risk and controls space is also supplemented by my role in financial crime compliance with a global UK bank, headquartered in Singapore, where I focus on anti-money laundering (AML)/countering financial terrorism (CFT) control reviews and advisory. I currently lead the compliance team in the gambling industry and liaise directly with the regulators on various areas of regulatory compliance, such as AML/CFT, IT Compliance and Social Safeguards. I believe in continuous learning and getting ahead in managing our current risk landscape. In today's context of business and AML risks, having experiences in technology risk is a complimentary and critical skillset in understanding how technology and cyber space serve as a conduit for fraudulent activities. As a practitioner in both domains, particularly in the Client Due Diligence (CDD) space, I have good understandings of business, financial and IT risks, as well as complex project implementations.
