My Bachelor of Social Work degree and work experience has provided me with the opportunity to gain a theoretical foundation in personal and family dynamics, social policy, client centred practice, and working with the public in a skilful and diplomatic manner. Currently I am a social worker for the Ministry, where I help youth and their families by connecting them with community resource to help them build healthy connections. The experience I gained while working for the Creekside program at the Turning Points Collaborative Society gave me a solid understanding of the importance in working effectively with people in vulnerable life situations. As well, this experience provided me with the essential knowledge of facilitating groups and working with people who are experiencing addiction. I helped the people I served to gain personal awareness around their addiction and recovery progress. Previously, I used my skills of building relationships with people to build trust and connections with landlords so that I could advocate for clients who were at risk of losing their housing or who were already homeless.
