Teaching courses including Patient-Provider Communication and Health Communication, Organizations, Professions and Policy

I have worked with numerous clients over the years to: provide communication skills training for faculty, staff, and simulated/standardized patients (SPs); assist a new medical school in developing their simulation operations plan and program; and teach research skills including serving as a mentor to a variety of stakeholders including clinical faculty. I routinely present training sessions, workshops, and featured presentations on related topics including qualitative research methods and compassionate/empathic communication in healthcare. I served as a past member of the Board of Directors for the Association of Standardized Patient Educators as the Chair of the Grants & Research Committee. My work in healthcare simulation education is informed by my professional background as a theater artist.

Teach Human Communication courses for both graduate and undergraduate students in face-to-face and online spaces. Courses included Communication in the Workplace (Organizational Communication), Communication and Gender, Communication-Conflict-and Negotiation, Public Speaking and the newly developed MA Online course - Training & Development.

Taught Communication courses to undergraduate students. Supported advising professor in implementing a Templeton Foundation grant on Science, Religion, and storytelling.

Coaching actors to role play with medical students.

Trained standardized patient actors to role play and evaluate health sciences students including medical and nursing students. Also collaborated with faculty and assessment team to develop and implement clinical, communication, and feedback curriculum.
