Minitab Inc., State College PAJul 2003 – May 2016Trained engineers and scientists on Statistical Process Control, Design of Experiments, Reliability, Capability and Measurement System Analysis for 100's of companies across the US. Consulted on new product development and defect reduction projects with a particular focus on medical device and pharmaceutical industries. Achieved breakthrough results for dozens of companies including LORD Specialty Chemicals, Intuitive Surgical, NuSil Technology, Corning Inc., Starbucks, Goodyear Tire Company and Johnson & Johnson.

Lead the development of training curricula and manuals for Minitab 15 and Minitab 16 software releases including the creation of new materials for transactional data clients, design of experiment features, acceptance sampling and advanced regression techniques. Wrote and presented over 50 training manuals, conference presentations, journal articles and white papers on the use of data analysis to make good business decisions. Particularly creative results include Six Sigma Project Failure Analysis, the Minitab Experiment Contest, ASQ World Conference Speakers Program and the Minitab Golf Experiment.

Provided training in data analysis and quality tools to large and small companies across the US. Equally comfortable with technician, manager, engineering or product development scientists as clients. Consulted on process improvement projects for manufacturing quality and efficiency, new product development and process control. Provided Six Sigma support for Black Belt certification.

Technical leader on the Process Excellence Team that implemented Six Sigma project management at a manufacturing facility with 240$MM /yr in sales as they completed 12 Six Sigma projects saving over 8 MM$. Led multiple cross-functional teams, established best practices by documenting the most effective procedures and provided Black Belt training for 37 team members. Achieved ASQ Black Belt, and Oriel Master Black Belt certifications. Earned Division Engineering Award.

Supervised 3 engineers and 5 technicians providing engineering support for a 24-hour / day glass manufacturing operation generating 87 $MM /yr in sales. Led the production support team that improved selects from 73% to 86% saving 2.8 $MM in manufacturing costs. Assured the department met all performance, safety, diversity and individual development objectives as well as performance evaluations and department staffing requirements.

Project leader and principle investigator for 6 major new process development and defect reduction projects covering 3 major divisions within Corning Incorporated. Empirically determined optimal die geometry for polymer coating of optical fibers, increasing selects by 2.4%. Developed a 7 step process to manufacture computer monitor front face plates and implemented in production to produce 7000 panels / week. Discovered and developed a process to recycle green ceramic material for catalytic converter substrates achieving savings of 2 $MM / year in batch and disposal costs across three facilities worldwide. Implemented cutting, plating and surface conditioning process improvements for hot glass mold equipment processing reducing equipment changes at the press from 1519 to 630 changes per year.
