After moving 21 years with the army, my husband, Charlie, retired and we found our forever home in Madison, AL. Time in the army, living 10 different places and meeting wonderful people all over was a great life, but settling down has been even better. Over the course of raising children for 41 years, I call the wedding date of our youngest my "retirement date". With the army and children came many opportunities for part time jobs as well as volunteer stints within military communities, PTA, band boosters and more. Being asked to be part of the New Futures, Inc. board was quite an honor and I'm pleased to help in a small way with this homeless shelter. It is the only one in the area that services entire families, meeting them where they are in their needs, encouraging and teaching them how to see their way through their financial hardships, as well as other problems that caused them to become homeless. Keeping families together and helping them to become self sufficient is quite a worthy cause and I'm honored to use my book keeping skills to keep records and help the organization remain fiscally responsible, using the money given by so many loyal donors wisely.
