Profile bio

About Louanna Eichrodt

As a low-income, first-generation college student, I was clueless about what happens after high school other than "go to college". I knew I wanted to continue learning so I went to college [and struggled]. I had zero capital. I needed a mentor. Now, with over a decade of experience in higher education, I'm still very committed to student support, agency, advocacy, the pursuit of intellectual curiosity, and self-authorship by giving people space and time to fail, learn, and thrive within a safe environment. I enjoy being a thought partner to others as they navigate post-secondary options. I find boundless satisfaction and joy by explaining the confusing and complicated processes within higher education so they are easier to understand and maneuver. Maintaining meaningful relationships with other campus partners, along with seeking out training and developmental opportunities, keeps me engaged and up-to-date on things that impact my students (eg. mental health, substance use, etc). I celebrate all diversity and my natural curiosity delights in interacting with all types of people as I learn so much from listening to differing thoughts, perspectives, and ideas. I am trying to read more of the literature around the students of today so that I can continue to be the advisor they need. At the end of the day, I strive to be a guide and mentor for others (students and colleagues) in whatever way is needed so they/we/I become their/our best selves and live a life of authenticity.
