• Responsible for the management of Legal Department and Ombudsman Department (inclusive of Recoveries and Third Party Department [30 staff members], effective from 2014), which includes:• Managing seven legal advisors• Consulting with and providing instruction to attorneys• Appointing/removing attorneys from Regent’s legal panel (including managing their costs/performance)• Mandate of R1,000,000 in respect of all legal/ombudsman claims• Providing direction and final determinations on: claims handling, third party claims, recoveries, repudiations, ombudsman complaints, litigation, policy/contract interpretation, and matters of general importance to the company (corporate litigation)• Consulting with clients (internal/external) to provide advice and execute direction• Ensuring complaint resolution• Direct and successful handling of sensitive legal matters• Staff development and assessment• Strategic planning, risk assessment, developing best practices, budget planning

• Specialised in motor vehicle accident litigation with extensive experience in handling large insurance companies and brokers• Responsibilities of a Candidate Attorney, including:• Drafting letters of correspondence• Drafting of pleadings• Drafting of contracts• Consultations with clients• Attending to court• Administration • Sourcing of legal and other case-specific experts
