I am not permitted to name exactly our confidential client, but it rhymes with Snapple Computers. My job is to fix broken computers over the phone, and I have become an expert in troubleshooting the last three operating systems this particular computer-and-phone-and-mp3-player company has put out. Is your computer booting to a gray screen? Are you locked out of your machine because you forgot the administrator password? Are you having trouble figuring out the imap and smtp servers on your mail application? I know how to help with that.Probably most significantly, I had been a pretty much exclusive Microsoft Windows computer user before this job, so all of my expertise was absorbed in the first month of training/answering phones.Other skills of this job include the ability to convey abstract technical procedures over the phone to non-technically inclined customers, and also the ability to kindly explain the limits of our scope of support when customers have questions we are not able to help them with, such as how to use products made by other parties (for example, Adobe or Microsoft software) in order that the customer finishes the call satisfied, whether or not I was able to resolve their specific issue.
