Nomadic Resorts is an interdisciplinary design & project development company servicing the hospitality industry with offices in the Netherlands, Mauritius and South Africa. Lighthouse Sustainability Solutions is a specialized contractor focused on the construction of resorts and spas. It currently employs 60 workers including steel works, membrane rigging specialists, carpenters, plumbers and specialized team of bamboo workers.

Our company Nomadic Resorts did the architectural, interior and landscape design for the project, while Lighthouse Sustainability Solutions, a subsidiary of Nomadic Resorts was the main contractor.

Creation and implementation of a group wide green building and sustainable land use methodology and technical services document covering building envelope improvements, door and window detailing, roofing options, natural ventilation, thermal modeling, passive solar gain and shading, appliance and lighting selection, sustainable landscaping and renewable energy selection for new developments and existing resorts. Full responsibility for the design coordination, site protection and landscaping of a 65 million dollar (2000 million baht) mixed use hotel and residential development project covering 100 acres off rainforest on a tropical island off the coast of Thailand. The job included bespoke landscaping design for the high net worth owners of 7 luxury residential villas (with total real estate value of 30 million USD), training and equipping a team of tree surgeons, planting of 25 different bamboo species across the site to restore the watershed as well as beach restoration, mangrove regeneration and the design and construction of 2 organic vegetable gardens and an aquaponics system

The treetop dining pod is a biophilic dining experience developed in collaboration with Olav Bruin from 24H architects. The concept is inspired by the growth of saprophytic fungi on decaying trees. The pod is suspended from a web attached to 8 large trees made of stainless steel cables and is connected to an elevator winch which lowers or raises the 4 guests 8m from the forest floor into the rainforest canopy to enjoy their meal. Waiters can access the diners using zip lines. The 250 000USD project had an ROI of just 11 months

Design and Project management of prototype zero carbon, ecological villa on the island of Ko Kut in eastern Thailand with 6.5kw hybrid renewable energy system, grey water recycling reed bed, extensive green roof, energy efficient LED lighting and energy star appliances, solar cooling and natural swimming pool. (Earth Awards 2011)

Design and construction of organic vegetable gardens at Soneva Gili, Soneva Fushi and Six Senses Laamu in the Maldives as well as gardens at Evason Hua Hin and consulting for the landscaping of Nakka Destination spa and Senses Yao Noi in Thailand and Six Senses Ninh Van Bay in Vietnam. This role also included a range of other tasks involving wastes management, irrigation, and composting and energy efficiency throughout the group. The role required considerable communication with the press and travel industry professionals largely due to the multiple environmental awards won by the group during this period.

Leading a team of over 100 hotel operations workers we restored the beaches, gardens and walkways throughout the resort and replanted native vegetation to allow the Conde Naste award winning resort to successfully re-open 8 months after the disaster.

Design and construction of underground mushroom hut and spawn laboratory using waste wood to grow 5-10 kg of gourmet mushrooms daily for the restaurant. Design and supervision of waste water treatment system for grey water irrigation system to orchards and selection of composting toilet, solar oven and rope bridge.
