Kyrgyzstan

• Established and managed country office in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, building relationships with local partners and donors and setting up programmes in urban disaster risk reduction;• Worked with Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan to develop capacities in climate change adaptation, urban DRR, and early warning systems;• Provided technical support in climate change adaptation to regional community-based DRR programming in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, including adapting activities to make them more “climate-smart”, developing climate information materials for schools, and preparing recommendations for the development of future climate-smart DRR programming in Central Asia.

Philippines

• Developed the first draft of a forecast-based early action protocol for floods in the Panay River basin, including collaboration with flood modellers to develop prototype flood inundation model, and researching impact-based forecasting approaches to anticipate flood and typhoon impacts on agriculture;• Worked with local communities ato identify appropriate early actions to mitigate flood impact, and tested activation and distribution options through simulation exercises;• Collaborated with other national teams working on FbF approaches in different countries to identify, share and apply best practices and lessons learned.

Ukraine

Project manager of ECHO-funded multi-partner capacity building project in Ukraine and Belarus, supporting capacity development of the Ukraine and Belarus Red Cross Societies in first aid, psychosocial support, and crisis communication, including responsibility for reporting, monitoring, and evaluation. Oversaw the development of capacity assessments for each National Society in the three focus areas, and the implementation of development plans to strengthen National Society disaster management capacity and cooperation with national emergency management authorities.

Georgia

Regional disaster risk reduction and climate change advisor for Eastern Europe & Caucasus programmes. Adaptation lead for a six-country climate change adaptation programme in South Caucasus and Eastern Europe, including overseeing the development of six national climate vulnerability assessments, leading trainings on climate change, and providing support for the design and implementation of locally-led small-scale adaptation projects. Provided technical support for a three-country community-based DRR programme including vulnerability and capacity assessments, collaboration with local emergency management authorities, disaster simulation exercises, and monitoring and evaluation.

Georgia

• Supported field staff throughout the Red Cross Movement to use climate data in their work in a variety of international settings, including Ethiopia, Mali, Vietnam, and Georgia;• Coordinated junior researcher programme, managing recruitment and supervision of masters students to provide research support for country and regional programmes;• Developed training materials on climate change and disaster risk reduction for staff, volunteers and schools in different country contexts.

Serbia

• Responsible for technical support of a multi-country climate change adaptation programme in Eastern Europe, with a focus on civil society participation in national and regional policy dialogue;• Prepared four national and one regional climate vulnerability assessment with adaptation recommendations targeted at policy makers;• Developed case studies of policy dialogue and community-based adaptation, which were used by other Red Cross National Societies as examples of best practice in adaptation.
