The seminar was attended by over 120 healthcare professionals and key note speakers included Dr. Jeremy Lewis (Research and Innovation Lead, Central London, Community Healthcare NHS Trust, London and Reader in Physiotherapy, University of Hertfordshire), Mr. Ross Kingston (Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Bon Secours Hospital, Tralee, Co Kerry), Mr. Eoin O’Conaire (Director & Chartered Physiotherapist, Evidence-Based Therapy Centre, Galway) and Karen McCreesh (Health Research Board Fellow and Lecturer, Department of Clinical Therapies, University of Limerick).As part of the role I was also involved in Shoulder Community of Practice. This involves working with a core group of physiotherapists around the topic of shoulder assessment and management, running monthly journal clubs on these topics and developing resources for the Shoulder Community of Practice website (http://www.shouldercommunity.com/). The website provides evidence-based information on assessment, outcome measurement and management of shoulder pain conditions. Physiotherapist Resources which are available on the website include patient information leaflets, exercise demonstration videos and a patient exercise diary. There is also a regular Blog on shoulder pain and a Discussion Forum where shoulder pain can be discussed with other healthcare professionals.
