I worked at LCH.Clearnet as an industrial placement during my placement year.I monitored a range of financial derivatives and members’ market risk positions, to achieve under pressure multiple intraday deadlines around margin calls, and price authorisation across a variety of markets and exchanges.Also monitored, on an ongoing basis, the performance of LCH.Clearnet margin requirements against current market behaviour, escalate any issues as appropriate and liaise with senior management and the relevant exchanges to make the necessary margin changes within the given time frames.I answered highly complex member/client queries around initial and variation margining and counterparty risk, via email or telephone, emphasizing my good communication skills. Completed daily reports with market and member/client analysis for senior management.I updated operational procedures and implemented changes where appropriate. Working shifts hours within the Risk Operational team (07:00 – 22:00) and being solely responsible for many of the EOD procedures after 19:00.I showed good problem solving skills and decision making ability when coordinating EOD issues with IT support, Business Operations, Members and Exchanges, escalating the incident to senior management on call and detailing root cause analysis. I used Reuters to gain market prices and to build monitoring tools using Reuters Power Plus Pro for all types of financial products and across a variety of exchanges.I also implemented a plan for maintaining the business continuity plans and co-coordinated with senior management to ensure test days were conducted at our recovery disaster site.
