My role was the first in house legal function at Inspired Villages following their joint venture with L&G and Natwest Pension Funds. Inspired Villages are a developer and operator of later living villages across the UK. My role requires the oversight and management of the whole legal function within the business. This can range from land acquisitions, refinancing, IP registration, litigation, company secretary provision, governance, legislation review and FCA regulation. The spectrum is far reaching and varied! I am a member of ExCo and sit across all our committees which includes, Investment, Risk and Audit. I report directly to the CEO and regularly present to our stakeholders. I joined Inspired Villages after leaving my private practice position at Browne Jacobson where I was an Associate in Real Estate Litigation between 2017 and 2020.Prior to joining Browne Jacobson I trained with Jones Day in London before moving to working regionally due to family interests.As a Real Estate Litigator I specialised in all areas of commercial landlord and tenant work. I offered advice on all remits of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 including taking an interim rent claim to the Court of Appeal. I also have extensive experience in relation to dilapidation claims, service charge disputes, break clause issues, rent review, easement and covenant disputes along with vast experience in areas such as adverse possession claims. I worked closely with the Real Estate department in relation to overage clauses, options, and development issues. I also lectured at Nottingham Trent University and Nottingham Law School on Land Law between 2020-2021. I pride myself on being easy to deal with, communicative and personable. My aim is to provide a clear, practical and commercial approach to any situation. I am a strong proponent for social mobility and providing opportunities and support to those who may not otherwise be alive to the fact the world is their oyster.
