Research scientist with drug development in cross-divisional explorative projects within the field of neurodegeneration.

Identification and characterization of signaling pathways involved in p25 induced alpha-synuclein dependent degeneration in a cellular model of Multiple system atrophy.The purpose of the project was to further develop a cell model of alpha-synuclein aggregation dependent cell death, build a platform for high content screening and apply this to search for kinases affected during alpha-synuclein mediated cellular stress. This provided a strong tool for testing multiple compounds in an automatized and unbiased manor. All in all the data obtained support the hypotheses, that misfolded alpha-synuclein is the main trigger of cellular degeneration, that preventing direct phosphorylation of alpha-synuclein is beneficial and that relieving ER stress or activating the UPS might be ways to therapeutically intervene in alpha-synucleinopathies such as MSA.(Project period prolonged becuse of two times maternity leave.)

Research Assistant at Faculty of Agricultural Sciences dept. of Genetics and Biotechnology.I worked with association studies aiming to identify QTL’s from inherited traits within sire lines based on transmission as well as expression patterns using QTDT and micro array assays.Also I functioned as a supervisor for the cellular studies and master thesis students in our lab.
