Second United Nations political mission in Colombia: verification mission.Regional verification of Security Guarantees for former FARC-EP, members of the FARC political party, social leaders and communities over four departments of Colombia (Caquetá, Putumayo, Cauca and Meta). Tasks:- Regional verification of security guarantees for social leaders and former FARC-EP.- Advocacy for the implementation of security measures, and coordination of the implementation of emergency actions with the government, demobilized FARC-EP, and armed forces (ex.: immediate evacuation of threatened people).- Representation of the Mission in regional and local security tasks forces with government, former FARC-EP, military and police.- Analysis of government institutions' integral response to human rights violations (prevention, protection and investigation); development and management of databases on human rights violations.- Coordination of field actions (ex.: verification visits) and analysis task forces with field teams covering four departments of Colombia; development of regional context assessments and coordination with the national office.- Monitoring and review of regional and local reporting.- Regional gender focal point: implementation of all gender mainstreaming activities and reporting at the regional level as well as with four local offices; coordination of internal and external trainings; implementation of a gender analysis of the political, social and security context and identification of challenges and good practices.- Field experience in post-conflict setting.- Work in an international team composed of civilians and military personnel.

Second United Nations political mission in Colombia: verification mission.Local verification of security guarantees for social leaders, communities and former FARC-EP as well as the political, social and economic reintegration of former FARC-EP (since February 2018). cease-fire observation (until February 2018).- Field work in a post conflict setting at the frontier between Colombia and Venezuela.- Part of an interdisciplinary team (civilian and military).- Relationship-building with local actors such as social leaders, communities, former FARC-EP, the public force, the church and government institutions.- Leading all phases of project management (extrabudgetary United Nations funding) with an emphasis on the economical reintegration of former FARC.- Identification of needs with the community and coordination with UNICEF for the obtention of funding dedicated to the habilitation of a kindergarden in the former FARC reintegration space; follow-up on the process. - Local gender focal point: gender mainstreaming in all activities; realization of workshops on gender-based violence for the public force.

Course: Political PartiesClass content:- Secularism and democracy (cases studied: France, Turkey, United-States).- Two-party, multi-party and one-party political systems (cases studied: China, United-Kingdom, France).- Presidential, semi-presidential and parliamentary political systems (cases studied: United-States, France, United-Kingdom).- Social movements (cases studied: 1989 Tiananmen, May 68, Ukraine 2013-2014).- Political representation and pluralism.- Direct democracy: referendums (cases studied: 2016 Colombia peace referendum, Brexit).- Pressure groups and lobbies (cases studied: military-industrial complex, PACs, prison-industrial complex).- The regulation of political party funding (cases studied: Latin America).Examination method:- In-class examinations about the readings and course contents- 8-10 page research papers- Group work: creation of political parties in a fictional semi-presidential, secular, multiparty democracy; the socio-political and economic history and situation of the country are given to the students at the beginning of the semester. The exercise includes: development of a party ideology, political campaign and realisation of an electoral debate between the different fictional parties created.

Asylum Access in an international NGO specialized in refugee rights, it offers grassroots assistance to refugees and works towards bringing changes in the legal landscape for both refugees and their host communities. Its strategy relies on five tools: legal aid, community legal empowerment, policy advocacy, strategic litigation and movement-building.Responsibilities:- Assistance to the regional direction of Asylum Access Latin America in the administrative and operative management of the organization.- Assistance in the implementation of the advocacy agenda at the regional level.- Development of internal and external reports on the advocacy agenda.- Development of a communication strategy promoting and revealing the organization's actions in Latin America and strategic themes related to the advocacy agenda. - Recruitment, selection, reception, integration and monitoring of international volunteers.- Development of partnerships with organizations, universities and programs specialized in the area of work of Asylum Access Latin America.

- Assistance to the regional direction of Asylum Access Latin America in the administrative and operative management of the organization.- Assistance in the implementation of the advocacy agenda at the regional level.- Development of internal and external reports on the advocacy agenda.

- Research on specific themes related to the mission’s general advocacy strategy.- Production of descriptive papers that contribute to the understanding of the humanitarian context and the positioning of MSF in Colombia.- Analysis of the major current issues and of the country's general context (daily, weekly and monthly information points).-Translation of documents and compilation of data for georeferentiation of violent trends at country-level.
