Being elected as Chairperson of Go Eco is a tremendous honour. As a governance board, we build on the work that has come before us - acknowledging the privilege of leading an enduring, stable organisation that has been a leader in the local sustainability space for over 20 years, and the many hours of paid and voluntary labour that has brought us to this point.We take our role of strategic leadership seriously and focus on a culture that puts Te Tiriti o Waitangi and climate action at the heart of every decision we make - requiring ongoing learning, reflection, and discussion. The projects that Go Eco has run over the years are consistently changing in order to be at the forefront of the environmental movement and our work consistently asks us to think ahead much further than our immediate circumstances, or even the length of our strategic five-year plan, but generations into the future. Working closely with the COVID-19 Strategy Manager and the wider senior leadership team of the COVID-19 Directorate, I was responsible for:😷 Keeping up-to-date on the changing COVID-19 response and ensuring it was disseminated and understood by service delivery and other areas of the programme✍️ Writing, compiling, and editing reports and newsletters to stakeholders, committees, and executive leadership💻 Updating, improving, and creating processes to streamline and automate reporting, requests, and integrations - particularly using the Microsoft ecosystem🏥 Investigating and responding to complaints🎨 Creating slides, graphics, and other resources to help people understand our strategy and priorities🤝 Collaborating with the comms team and comms contractors to tell the story of our work publicly🤔 Keeping abreast of the many moving parts of the COVID-19 Directorate and facilitating conversations around strategy, equity, and engagement

The delivery of our COVID-19 vaccination programme in the Waikato required working in an agile environment and taking every opportunity to break down barriers to equity. 💉 I managed the vaccination clinics at Te Rapa Racecourse and Ryburn (Waikato Hospital), and also set up and managed the Morrinsville clinic with Te Hauora o Ngāti Hauā.🦽 Managed the aged residential care, and mental health and disability mobiles - working closely with the disability sector and community groups. I focused on embedding the Enabling Good Lives principles into our service delivery - which included an accessibility audit of all our fixed sites to ensure baseline access needs were met and a review of the processes for supporting disabled people. 💪 Supported the wider move to a mobile-focused strategy - leaning on my knowledge and relationships with community groups to organise mobile clinics in priority areas of high deprivation and low Māori first doses. I created tools using the equity data from our planning and intelligence team to help ensure that Māori equity was at the centre of our service delivery planning. 💜 Co-organised Super Saturday in Hamilton - making the most of my position as a well-known community leader to involve local councils, community groups, charities, and businesses. My profile also enabled our successes to be highlighted in the Radio New Zealand coverage of the day. 📑 I collated resources and research on disability, communication strategies, misinformation, needle-phobia, vaccine hesitancy, and other critical topics - both for use in the community and for our programme to use internally. 🤝 Enabled positive relationships, not only with the Ministry of Health but also with other regions - allowing us to share documents and processes while also sharing our knowledge and practices to further the vaccine programme nationwide.

Bike Waikato is focused on getting more people on bikes, improving our infrastructure, and collaborating with other great local organisations. Formerly a branch of the Cycling Action Network NZ, I joined Bike Waikato when it became it's own incorporated society.My work had three main focuses: 📱Digital communications, which included growing their Instagram followers (which we achieved by 68%) and creating a new brand identity for the organisation to reflect the new era of the organisation and their inclusive scope of all bike users.📆 The inaugural Bike Month in 2021, which I organised with a two-month lead time - running 8 events with an attendance of nearly 200 people, and supporting another 10 events organised by other community groups.📝 Local government submissions, which I wrote on behalf of the organisation and facilitated over 200 community submissions in support of biking in Hamilton. This was through a bespoke submission template website which I designed, allowing members of the public to co-sign and addtheir comments to Bike Waikato’s submissions.

During New Zealand’s initial COVID-19 lockdown, I implemented Seed’s first-ever digital strategy as part of a five-month contract - centred around growing community and connection online.This work involved collaborative workshops on financial literacy with ASB Bank, working with leadership coach Briony McKenzie, and original content I created on engaging with volunteering and community work. This included designing and writing content, facilitating workshops and online events, improving and automating internal processes, and organising a multi-platform social media presence. Some of our successes included:👋 Reaching over 50,000 people across the four-month period (+197% on our target)🗣️ Over 7,000 engagements with our content (+143% on of our target)😲 67% of workshop participants had never been to a Seed workshop before👍 98% of participants said they would attend another Seed eventAs a final piece of work, I also did the groundwork for supporting other not-for-profit community groups to improve their online presence and use of technology tools - including Rainbow Hub Waikato and Young Workers Resource Centre. This involved interviews with the organisations, reviews of their technology use, and putting together recommendations for improvements.
