Using Design Thinking and art making principles, I energize teams and inspire out-of-the-box thinking to foster healthy communities and corporate culture. Making art is about seeing new possibilities; possibilities are opportunities. By providing a special window for your group to meet and interact, trust gets built, morale is improved, and innovative leadership demonstrated. At the core of every effective team, is trust. With trust comes mutual respect, open communication and collaboration. Each of our team building exercises and workshops is designed to build trust among team members in a spontaneous, open environment without fear of judgment or criticism. The importance is in the journey, not the end result.Taking people away from their normal sphere of activity, gives them time to reflect, making it easier to take risks without fear of failure and “think outside the box.” Practicing this in a playful environment needed to implement it in other settings. More than any other time in history, today there is increased pressure on companies and organizations to create new products, streamline production processes and develop innovative strategies. According to an IBM study, creativity is the number 1 leadership skill of this century.

Oct 2007 - Present

The Artist'S Way Coach And Facilitator

Cocreations

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

As the leading accredited ‘Artist Way’ facilitators in Canada, I started teaching the 12-week Artist’s Way program since 2008. Coaching and courses are based on “The Artist’s Way, A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity,” a book by Julia Cameron translated in 34 languages, over two million copies sold. The Artist Way program is intended for all who want to honestly learn something about themselves and others, and transform their current situation with creativity and compassion. It is not about teaching artistic techniques but rather is much closer to a step-by-step personal development course. Rooted in state-of-the-art concepts on creativity theory, behaviour and group dynamics, this process is quite modern, yet can seem timeless as it blends methods of personal reflection that are thousands of years old with 21st-century behavioural science. This attracts an eclectic mix of participants, many who wish they were more creative - or richer, healthier, happier. Workshop members typically include business professionals, health care providers, executives, educators as well as accomplished and amateur artists from every medium. Regardless of their background they often desire forward movement in one or more of the following areas:- Initiate and complete a creative project – in business, science, or the fine arts- Work through negative emotions that block insight and creative expression- Gain insight into current personal or business relationships- Uncover their unique voice and personal values- Plan transition from one career or life phase into another - Overcome burnout; find new meaning in work- Increase levels of optimism, joy and productivity
