My role is to develop plasma based products and processes for the deposition of thin films and nanostructures. The deposition systems and recipes are developed for production and research environments. This includes new product introductions, creating novel features and tactical projects such that the product range is relevant to the current market demands. • I plan and manage project activities, such as the European project ThinSi, to deliver project milestones on time, to budget and in full. • I carry out research and network with the wider technical community through conferences and collaborations to keep us at the leading edge of plasma technology. • I liaise closely with colleagues in Design Engineering, Purchasing, Build, Test and Customer Support as the contact point, problem solver and technical trainer. This includes running process demonstrations and working with the Sales team to win orders by creating and providing technical information and visiting potential customers. • I also work with our existing customers to resolve technical problems, refine customer specification requests and get feedback to incorporate into design developments.I develop thin film deposition equipment by having a thorough understating of the processes, applications and technology. I enjoy performing experiments in the applications & development clean rooms, processing samples, analysing results and creating design improvements. I also like talking to customers, presenting at workshops and conferences or overseeing projects in the factory.
