This assignment was multifaceted and encompassed:1) Stakeholder Interviews: Engaging in productive dialogues with key internal stakeholders to understand their perspectives, experiences, and expectations from the localization strategy.2) Information Gathering: Systematically compiling and organizing data related to current localization practices, challenges faced, and desired outcomes.3) Analytical Assessment: Diving deep into the gathered information to identify gaps, redundancies, and areas of improvement.Leveraging insights from this comprehensive analysis, ProStrategy was able to design a blueprint for an integrated localization program for Mölnlycke. Beyond auditing, we also offered our expertise for ongoing localization projects, and we played a pivotal role in hiring a skilled Localization Manager.In the subsequent phase, alongside the newly onboarded Localization Manager, we transitioned to implementing strategies derived from our audit. Our joint efforts focused on enhancing Glooko’s localization framework, leading to the creation of the Glooko Translation Guide for both internal and external users.A cornerstone of our efforts was laying a strong foundation under Localization Quality Management. This involved refining processes, workflows, and managing vendor relations, including the integration of RWS Life Science and the SDL Trados Enterprise.Our emphasis on clear Roles & Responsibilities led to the development of a RACI matrix, clarifying departmental localization duties. We also devised a holistic budget strategy with KPIs addressing reliability, quality, and business metrics, ensuring effective budget management for localization.Given the regulatory landscape, we ensured Regulatory Compliance was central, with defined workflows/processes. We further drove localization enhancements across departments such as R&D, TechDocs, Marketing, and Learning & Performance, concentrating on streamlining processes and collaborations.Additionally, we standardized DTP guidelines, tailored training for regional marketing teams, and formulated critical linguistic guides. We implemented our recommendations, steering the Localization Team to operationalize the aspirations of the “Transparent” maturity. We rolled out a refined Global Localization strategy and a rejuvenated localization and translation process. Strategic alliances were formed with existing LSP. Moreover, we plunged into rigorous research, initiating RFI/RFQ for prospective cloud-based TMS solutions and EPiServer connectors.In the final phase, I donned the cap of the interim Localization Manager, ensuring all undertakings harmonized with the overarching goals of the organization. We led the comprehensive localization program, strengthened ties with stakeholders, and instituted periodic progress assessments.
