In my role as RNA training academy lead I'm responsible for leading a multi disciplinary team to plan, develop and deliver online and in person training courses to upskill the industry in this emerging technology.

As a technical planner I worked as part of the team to build and establish CPI’s RNA Centre of Excellence and RNA Training Academy. In this role I expanded my skills into GMP practices and business case development. This involved detailed planning, stakeholder management and reporting, and guiding team members.

As a downstream team leader I line managed a team of scientists whilst supporting the wider downstream team in project delivery. This included technical project resourcing and sprouting development of staff members to strengthen the wider team. Alongside this I was technical lead on multiple projects, planning to ensure milestone delivery.

As a downstream scientist I focused on the development of recovery and purification processes, including continuous processing, from a wide range of biopharmaceuticals including recombinant proteins, mAbs and AAV therapies. I carried out small scale method development up to pilot scale using various platforms including liquid handling systems, UFDF and chromatography platforms. I have proactively expanded my knowledge and skills by learning analytical techniques to carrying out in process testing including ELISA, Labchip and UPLC. I acted as a technical lead on multiple process development projects planning work schedules and experimental programs, safety risk assessments and writing final reports and customers presentations. I also disseminated these project activities and promoted CPI by presenting at large international conferences.

In the past three years I have helped to bring online the new National Biologics Manufacturing Centre. I am now working within the Downstream team gaining new skills including experience in chromatography and filtration. I also have experience in equipment purchasing through public procurement. This has helped me to develop skills in tender writing and evaluation along with expanding my knowledge of new and existing technologies. I have helped to design and set up the lab and plant systems. I am also working on implementing an electronic notebook system to help the facility become paperless.
