He was the boy sitting at one corner of the school canteen, quietly eating his food alone. He used to return home from school, looking forward to playing iPad games after finishing his homework. That boy seemed so unfamiliar to me, but he was me - 3 years back.Fast-forward to now: I am surrounded by great friends. Within me lives a calling that I'm pursuing and living out daily. I am not who I want to be, but I'm definitely not who I used to be :)Growing up with traditional-minded parents, they've always told me to study hard, so I can get a good, high-paying job in the future, and live comfortably thereafter. I'd heeded their advice and kept myself at the top 10% of my cohort academically. But when I was 16, I realised that their advice wasn't true. A good job is a MEANS to an end, but not the end. While I was excelling at academics, I wasn't excelling in other areas of my life. I didn't feel happy or fulfilled. While I was comfortable, full and provided for on the outside, inside I felt empty.I started reading more, Googling more, and expanding my worldview through my laptop, and volunteering. I was inspired by HOW successful people live their lives - those are of gratitude, love, and contribution.Many people ask "What do you want to do in the future?" I think a better question to ask is, "How do you want to live?" I thought about this deeply, and concluded that I want to live a life of joy, love and contribution. I found out the best way I can give back is via revolutionising education worldwide, for it is the solution to all problems (e.g. poverty, hunger, climate change, gender inequality, even extinction). My non-negotiable dream is building education centres around the world that unleash the spark of genius in every individual.
