About Lowana Davies

Lowana Davies is a site-responsive Artist who explores more-than-human-centered approaches to care for multispecies smellscapes, such as oceans and air. She employs practice-led research to attune to the precarity of more-than-human futures and to disrupt passivity and inspire real human connection. She has over three years of experience in olfactory, installation, and performance art, and has recently graduated from a Master of Philosophy in Creative Industries at Queensland University of Technology (QUT).Lowana's hybrid practice interweaves digital media with olfactory and performance art, drawing on eco-philosophy, intersectional feminism, and decolonising futures. She has presented live, solo, and collaborative works across Australia, including at the Commonwealth Games Festival 2018, Adelaide Fringe Festival, and Bleach Festival. She is also a cast member for The Circus Corridor and a Bartender at Destino Cocktail & Wine Bar. Lowana's work is inspired by spaces and people, her immediate environment, and performance artists such as Ana Mendieta, Judy Chicago, and Marina Abramovic.
