Peter moved to HP joining the Midrange Sun Farm team supporting/maintaining the DWP Sun server estate ranging from V240 entry level servers to E25K high end servers. After 4 months Peter moved into the Team Leader role, monitoring/scheduling work for the team as well as liaising with other teams in the DWP estate and external suppliers.In September 2011 Peter moved to the Production Engineering group, specialising in Unix/Linux integration. Working across several projects concurrentlyKey achievements- Part of a team maintaining 500+ Sun server estate in a 24/7 environment- Design and key implementation role in replatforming 20 year old bespoke client/server DWP overseas pension system, removing significant risks of ancient hardware, out of support software through virtualisation. This involved recompilation of the bespoke COBOL and C batch applications and client/server infrastructure s well as refactoring supporting Unix scripts.- Requirements capture/specification including space, power and networking for multiple Data Center Consolidation project cycles, making most efficient use of existing space and releasing space for creation of new cool corridors. Each tranche of work involved around 50 servers.- From April 2012 onwards as a Technical Lead in the Infrastructure Team on Universal Credit programme.
