I am passionate about health, and research in the medical sciences. I work at both the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and the Victor Chang Institute of Cardiac Research in Research Support. My primary roles relate to:(1) Managing our institute Publications Repositories (2) Helping researchers to explain the impact of their research by analysis of their publications metrics(3) Overseeing the use of our electronic notebook LabArchivesI am an ARMS accredited Research Manager (Foundation Level). I enjoy acting as a much-needed ‘bridge’ between the research and executive sectors.I have extensive knowledge of health and medical science, having been a researcher in the field of diabetes and metabolism for 20 years. I obtained my PhD from Cambridge University (UK) and then worked at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research (Sydney) as an NHMRC Chief Investigator. My projects there focussed on uncovering the roles of the Grb10 protein in metabolism and muscle development. Outside of my Institute work, I dedicate my time to the education, health and wellbeing of my children as well as acting as a Mentor to other children and their Mums. I have a particular interest in advocating for neurodivergent kids and their parents, especially in relation to accommodations at school or homeschooling.
