Middle School 2011- 2015Continue to actively engage students with hands on learning and technology. As chairperson of the School Improvement Committee, I led Star of the Sea through five year Accreditation process. Appointed Core Leader for the middle school. In addition to leadership roles and teaching duties, other tasks include the SCA Advisor, Yearbook Editor, and NJHS Advisor. Efforts to communicate with my students, parents, and fellow teachers are key to success.Third Grade 2007-2010In addition to using many innovative, engaging and hands on techniques, integrated technology across the curriculum was of key importance. Language Arts included weekly flexible groups for varying reading levels. By integrating reading and writing across the curriculum with various lessons, students’ double dipped their learning capabilities. Math instruction included daily exciting practice on facts, innovative word problem strategies, and Smart Board lessons including virtual manipulatives. Hands on manipulatives were also incorporated into lessons. By keeping students actively engaged in learning, even the students who may have some math phobia found themselves having a great time and understanding number concepts. Pre-Kindergarten 2004-2007Blended weekly themes to connect key concepts with everyday life. Instilled a love of learning and language by weaving the “letter of the week” throughout music, poetry, art, and literature. Aided students in mastering early number skills by hands-­on math coupled with weekly math manipulatives. Social skills and play were key concepts. Wrote a weekly newsletter to keep parents informed of educational concepts.

Taught 6th and 8th grade students specific learning disabilities. Blended lessons in the Regular Education classrooms. Enable instruction in inclusion and self-contained classrooms. Created and implemented IEPs for caseload.

Hampton, Virgina

Chaired a team to promote a new inclusive classroom for students with disabilities. Planned a trip to Richmond, Virginia by train. This was the first time some of the students had been out of Hampton Roads. Organized a field trip using public transportation. Participated in new and innovative computerized IEP software.
