At SELFSURE, a tech-startup, I co-founded and served as the Chief Technology Officer. We developed a platform that allowed millennials to significantly reduce car insurance premiums by self-insuring and minimizing the need to pay for insurance excess out-of-pocket after a car accident. My responsibilities included building excess valuation curves using statistical regression models to assess the risk associated with onboarding policyholders and providing appropriate probabilities of default. Our venture was part of the RMI Alpha Code Programme, where we were recognized as one of the eight startups awarded R2m deemed most likely to succeed in the South African fintech landscape.

At Rand Merchant Bank, I served as a Financial Risk Manager, overseeing regulatory reporting to the prudential authority (SARB). My responsibilities included managing market risk, investment risk, liquidity risk, and interest rate risk for the investment banking division (IBD). I also played a key role in preparing and presenting monthly Investment Risk Forums and quarterly Investment Valuation Committees for EXCO. Additionally, I served on a Market Risk Technical Committee where I contributed to the approval of valuation methodologies for different financial instruments impacting the Investment Banking Division.
