Continue to review applications to restore, rehabilitate, or alter individual landmarks and properties inhistoric districts. Developing and leading LPC's application service initiatives, including the Business Express Service. Work in conjunction with senior staff and technical staff from LPC and sister agencies to collaborate on joint efforts and policy shifts.

Under the supervision of the Director and Deputy Director of Preservation, reviews applications to restore, rehabilitate, or alter individual landmarks and properties in historic districts. Consults with owners and architects, conducts site visits, makes presentations to Commission at public hearings and public meetings, prepares and issues permits for changes that the Commission has found to be appropriate. Provides technical assistance to owners. Other duties and special projects in various departments as assigned.

Work involves the lead responsibility for managing and directing specific projects within the Planning Division; responsible for planning, scheduling, and conducting major planning projects and development review activities. Specifically completed a feasibility analysis for a transfer of development rights program for the County and public engagement effort and data analysis for possible rural land ordinance amendments. Represents the Planning Division on the County's Historical Commission and New Town Design Review Board. Presents information in writing and orally to citizens, the development community, and elected officials. Assisted in complete re-write of the County's Zoning Ordinance.As project head, provides guidance and training to other staff assigned to projects.Monitors and assists staff in complex situations; advises on interpretation of policies. Oversees Division's internship program.Assembles and interprets County planning data for the general public and County officials; responds to citizens' inquiries.

Processed and reviewed rezoning, special use, subdivision, site plan, and other permit applications for adherence to County goals and policies; prepared recommendations and reports on assigned cases.Reviewed development plans and assisted applicants, engineers, and developers in resolving problems. Prepared summary of County comments for transmittal to architects, engineers, developers, landowners, Planning Commission, and the Board of Supervisors.Gathered, selected, compiled, and analyzed data pertaining to characteristics or existing conditions of the community; developed estimates and projections for population trends.Work involved directing complex programs and projects in comprehensive planning and land development and included the practice of urban and regional planning theories and concepts and the employment of local and State codes and ordinances in the review of applications and proposals.Directed the preparation and presentation of Comprehensive Plan sections and legislative current planning projects to the Planning Commission, Board of Supervisors, citizens, and professional staff. Also evaluated agency requests for capital improvements for consistency with comprehensive plan.Assumed role as a project manager for the review of complex subdivision and site plans for conformity with planning principles, compliance with subdivision regulations, and the Zoning Ordinance.

Performs a variety of technical, administrative, and clerical assignments in support of the Planning Division including support in communications and public outreach, responding to citizen inquiries via phone and in-person, and general customer service.Develops all internal programs related to the Department s utilization of GIS. Develops GIS overlays and related databases. Trains Departmental staff on GIS usage and applications and assists in overall GIS support tasks.
