I began a new job and career as media relations manager for the American Academy of Pediatrics on March 7, 2016. I had worked before that as a news reporter for the Chicago Tribune, covering general assignments from the northwest suburbs from March 1996-December 2015. I initially joined the newspaper business after college, working as a reporter for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram from 1987-1996. I loved my journalism jobs and the crazy stories and people that came my way, and feel privileged that I was able to experience the newspaper industry before it started unraveling.At one time, I spent two years in a graduate school program at Dominican University, working toward a master's degree in social work before real life interfered in 2009. I had been approved to start my student internship at a hospice when my sister was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer, which eventually took her life. My schooling helped me prepare for this personal tragedy, while also improving my roles at home, in the workplace and in day-to-day life.My goals are to achieve meaning and purpose in my life and improve the lives of others.Peace.Specialties: Family trends, health, crises, social services.
