As a lifelong learner driven by new challenges, I have developed a diverse skill set through my educational, professional, and community-based experiences. I strive to immerse myself in each organization’s culture, ensuring I contribute meaningfully. My early career in technology provided a strong foundation that continues to inform my work as an educator. I am always seeking ways to integrate innovative tools and technology to solve complex problems, improve my practice, and enhance students' learning experiences.With 16 years in public education, I’ve held leadership roles as a teacher-librarian and curriculum coordinator. These roles have given me unique opportunities to shape student learning and influence educational practices. I manage responsibilities like budgeting, acquisitions, collection development, and evaluating digital resources. As a curriculum coordinator, I work with district librarians and administrators to ensure libraries run smoothly and curricula evolve with students' academic needs. I’m frequently called upon during curriculum reviews and to support instructional development across subjects.As a teacher leader, I collaborate with colleagues from various disciplines to provide support in resource acquisition, instructional design, research skills, and the implementation of new tools. In the school library, I teach critical research skills, design thinking, and engage students in reading through various programs.In September 2023, I had the privilege of working with the Veterans Upward Bound program at the University of Pennsylvania. Though I’ve previously volunteered as an adult literacy tutor, this program’s mission to help veterans pursue academic and personal goals through English instruction deeply resonated with me. It allowed me to refine my instructional design skills in a remote, digital classroom setting while addressing the unique needs of adult learners.My instructional philosophy is grounded in constructivist theory and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles. Through my experiences as a parent, volunteer, and educator, I have gained a deep understanding of the personal nature of learning. I am passionate about creating inclusive, tailored learning experiences that foster student success. Recognizing each student as an individual and respecting their cultural backgrounds is central to my growth as an educator, and I continually work to deepen my cultural competency in my professional practice.
