Health, Safety and Environmental Professional (HSE) with 16 years of construction experience, 8 years dedicated exclusively to HSE. My experience lies within the Residential, Commercial, Hydro Power Generation, Oil and Gas Industries. I have managed HSE efforts on Mega Projects to single operational unit shutdowns. My duties have included building relationships with client representatives, safety pre-planning plant shutdowns, managing and building high functioning teams, leading incident investigations, and managing injury claims. My approach is to focus my efforts on a company’s leadership team. A Strong relationship between Operational Management and HSE are the foundation to a strong company culture. This connection can create a sustainable safety program and is the key to making zero incidents a reality. Using my knowledge and experience to assist solving complex compliance related issues with minimal operational disturbance. While building these relationships are priority, holding leadership accountable is also an expectation I expect my team and myself to hold true. I have found taking a behavioral based approach, empowering operational leadership to self-identify and correct hazards without reliance on HSE provide the best results in compliance.My management style is team oriented, allowing my team members to voice their ideas, make informed decisions, set expectations, and adjust when necessary. Communication is essential, by keeping my team aligned it leads to better results and less confusion when implementation of safety initiatives. I enjoy mentoring novice HSE professionals, taking what they have learned, using this foundation to build a developmental plan, and transform them into well-rounded future HSE leaders.
