I am Lane Simpson, a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Kent State University, graduating Cum Laude in December of 2024. My technical skills include proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, and C#, frameworks like Django and Bootstrap, and expertise in VR development using Unity3D and CHAI3D.I also served as the Computer Science Curriculum Committee Student Representative, where I collaborated with faculty to ensure the curriculum met the needs of students.Previously, I worked as an undergraduate researcher in the Immersive Computing for Touch Lab (ICTL) at Kent State University, where I collaborated on projects in computer haptics and virtual reality. One of my most significant contributions was leading the development of a VR based IV needle insertion simulation that combined mesh deformation, haptic feedback, and immersive technologies for medical training applications. I also co-authored a paper presented at IEEE BioSMART 2023, showcasing the impact of mixed reality in professional training.Additionally, I designed and developed a web application in collaboration with other students for Kent State’s Career Services to allow students access to professional attire through the departments Career Closet program. Built using Django for backend development and Bootstrap for front-end, the application is set to go live on Kent State's servers, enhancing accessibility for students, as well as giving student workers a way to manage inventory of donated clothes.
