Current Board President of Herpetology Weekend, LLC, a non-profit that promotes education of Herpetology Weekend attendees relating to the natural history, biology, taxonomy, conservation and preservation needs, and field research of the herpetofauna indigenous to the Eastern United States. Organize, train, and support citizen science teams composed of volunteers, biologists, teachers, and others to collect information relevant to understanding statewide herpetological biodiversity information and status. Organize yearly event held at Natural Bridge State Resort Park in Slade, KY. Lead field trips, sell t-shirts, gather entrance fees, etc. Emcee Friday and Saturday evening talks.

Conduct biological surveys for rare species. As environmental educator, use my knowledge of wildlife to help educate and inspire others to preserve and protect the natural beauty around us. I use photography to document the fascinating biodiversity of wildlife that surrounds us and to showcase the beauty of both common and rare species. I have a particular interest in amphibians, reptiles, insects, bats, freshwater mussels, land snails, and wildflowers. • Current contributor to "Meet Your Neighbours", an international photography project that celebrates biodiversity within our own communities. (Facebook & Instagram)• Conducted dozens of presentations to the public and school groups to highlight native species and their biological importance. Most recently I was invited to present at 2017 Herpetology Weekend in KY about my work with “Meet Your Neighbours” herp photography. • Contributed photographs and assistance to recent paper Discovery of the Oregon Spotted Frog in the Northern Puget Sound Basin, Washington State, published in Northwestern Naturalist, 2016. • Served as taxa lead biologist/photographer at Golden Gate National Parks BioBlitz March 2014, Mt. Rainier BioBlitz May 2016, Prairie Blitz 2017 Glacial Heritage Preserve, and Prairie Blitz 2017 Wolf Haven.• Contributed photographs to various books and brochures. Volunteer with Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife (WDFW) on Western Pond Turtle research to capture, measure, and place transmitters on individuals before release. Assisted WDFW with Oregon Spotted Frog surveys. Amphibian monitoring program volunteer in state of WA. Assisted WDFW with fall bat surveys of Striped Peak bunkers.

Manage multiple grants (Salmon Recovery Funding Board “SRF Board” and Washington State Department of Ecology) that involve stream restoration/enhancement in Puget Sound area. Perform stream restoration and enhancement projects, native vegetation planting, exotic species removal, fish removal during construction, conduct “streamkeeper academy” and “wetland wiggler” classes, door to door outreach and streamside education, maintenance of trout stream exhibit, care of native plant yard and maintenance of equipment and tools, etc.

Performed biological surveys for federal- and state-listed species throughout the eastern United States, to include plants, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, mussels, fish, insects, and birds. Contributed to stream assessment studies by identifying, sorting, and sampling macroinvertebrates to genus and species level. Drafted technical reports such as Biological Assessments, Biological Evaluations, and Environmental Impact Statements. Delivered presentations as part of Continuing Education efforts, as well as to school groups and National Parks Service employees summarizing survey findings. Utilized backpack electroshock, boat-mounted electroshock, seining, and gill netting for fish sampling, and cover boards, snap, live, and pitfall traps for terrestrial mammal capture. Key Studies & Contributions:• Served as lead biologist for all bat and herpetology related projects.• Supervised and led surveys of federally endangered Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis), gray bat (M. grisescens), and Virginia big-eared bat (Corynorhinus townsendii virginianus) in various National Forests (Daniel Boone NF, Hoosier NF, Wayne NF, Allegheny NF, etc.).• Successfully mist-netted bats at 100's of locations throughout the eastern United States. • Performed herpetological surveys and drafted reports for Cumberland Gap National Historic Park, Obed Wild and Scenic River, and Kentucky Ridge Wildlife Management Area. • Surveyed for endangered mussels in numerous river systems in eastern United States including Licking, Tennessee, Red, and Cumberland rivers, etc.• Expertly sampled and sorted macroinvertebrates from Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, and Mississippi, identifying to genus and species level.• Performed numerous aquatic surveys for federally threatened Blackside dace (Phoxinus cumberlandensis) at Cumberland Gap National Historical Park, Acorn Fork, and Laurel Fork.• Leveraged expertise to teach annual Eastern US bat identification, Anabat, and telemetry course.
