Senior manager and principal member of a successful greenfield build program to design, build and commission the first-ever Uptime Institute Tier IV Facility Certified data center in Africa and the Southern Hemisphere. In 2021 this data center asset was acquired by Africa Data Centres, a division of Liquid Telecom. Responsible for certification process with Uptime Institute. Ensured expectations and requirements of the operational team and Bank business divisions were communicated clearly to, and met by the design and build teams. Introduced new and unique design and operations solutions (for its time) and at least one that was viewed as a world-first. Role included the preparation of the new data center team for acceptance and operation of the facility. Selected Achievements: ★ First Uptime Institute Tier IV data center in Africa and Southern Hemisphere★ Administered application and acquired the Tier-IV Certification from Uptime Institute.★ Locally introduced lighter colored data center racks to contribute to lighting- and energy efficiency★ Introduced digital and LED lighting, with occupation sensors in the data center★ Improved strategy to deploy existing and forthcoming technology in Bank’s other data centers★ Provide input and leadership for the identification, assessing and use of future-approved technologies to ensure a positive contribution to organization’s data centers★ Quality assurance so that all deliverables conform to the design specifications and plans★ Oversaw the integrated test program (ITP) of the entire facility complex; monitored data center for quality assurance to meet project deliverables in accordance with plans.
