Dr. Laura’s mission is driven consistently by her passion for equity and social justice. As a consultant and leadership coach, her philosophy and practice are rooted in Freirian beliefs – that social systems silence historically marginalized populations and maintain hierarchies of injustice to preserve the status quo. Her ongoing teaching, learning and leadership empowers individuals and communities to embrace the power and potential in young people, colleagues and emerging leaders in order to challenge and change these systems. Using a “critically conscious,” bias-aware approach to leadership coaching, her majority-BIPOC clients develop courage to lead authentically through examining their unique lived experiences as assets, countering the widespread deficit messages they receive in today’s culture. It is her mission to empower leaders to create equitable and inspiring environments where all people thrive. As a consultant, Laura works with organizations to examine existing systems in order to create more inclusive and just environments.
