I became interim Store Planning Director following ten years in private practice serving Hermes. As the architect of record and later as Store Planning Director, I was responsible for all aspects of project development with direct communication to Hermes and Paris based design firm Rena Dumas Architecture Interieure (RDAI). I worked several times in the Paris office of RDAI. My involvement included, budget and schedule development, technical design, review of developer agreements, construction documents, permits, bid evaluation, negotiation of construction contracts and full construction administration. I was the architect for approximately 70% of the original Hermes stores in the US and Canada including, Boston, Chicago, Palm Beach, Bal Harbour, Washington, DC, Atlanta, Manhasset, Las Vegas (at Bellagio), King of Prussia, Toronto, Holt Renfro Vancouver and John Lobb Madison Avenue. I also did numerous licensed shops. I was a technical consultant on the Madison Avenue flagship.As the Director of Store Planning I hired and managed design teams and was responsible for the redevelopment of stores in Boston, Ala Moana, and Bal Harbour. I also oversaw the construction for Hermes' corporate offices on Madison Avenue. I coordinated a major mechanical system modification to the Beverly Hills store, which involved installing roof-top equipment and building major duct shafts through four stories of a seismically designed concrete structure, all while the store remained in operation. I loved my time with Hermes. The projects were challenging, intense, demanding and ultimately rewarding. I was fortunate and grateful to have worked closely with the two individuals most responsible for making Hermes what it is today: the late Jean Louis and Rena Dumas.Immediately following my term as Director of Store Planning for Hermes and before going to Hixson, I acted as owner's representative to Christian Dior for shops constructed in Palm Beach and Bal Harbour.
