In my spare time, I’m an amateur short film-maker. When you make a movie, you aren’t the best writer, the best actor or the best editor. You must trust your team to be the best in their field, and align them towards your vision to make an effective film. Just like the conductor in an orchestra, it’s about keeping all the different musicians in sync to create a symphony.In my role as a leader, I see myself as that conductor who works with cross-functional teams of talented individuals to run a successful enterprise.I do this by being a hands-on leader, who shares a part of my team’s responsibilities. This gives me a good understanding of the tasks my team executes, the problems they face and develops mutual empathy.To see a team or a person flourish is the most rewarding feeling as a leader. The success of my team drives me because success enables growth. Growing individuals push the company to a higher trajectory, and a growing company creates new opportunities for individuals. It’s a virtuous circle.At Nexus, I have the independence to empower my teams to take action and encourage them to take risks, fail fast, and learn faster. For me, it’s imperative to feel like I’m contributing not only as a leader but also as part of the society.
