Founder & trainer at Australian Centre for Regional Events, my passion is ensuring regional and rural events have sustainable foundations and productive teams to enable them to continue to increase visitation, economic growth and community pride in our regions.Australian Centre for Regional Events is an independent, learning and development organisation offering training and development programs to build confidence in staging high-quality events in regional and rural Australia, and to support regional and rural event organisers. Our self-paced eLearning program covers critical areas of event planning to equip organisers with essential event management strategies and skills to advance event quality and professionalism. We also provide face-to-face bootcamps and masterclasses, develop and revitalise event strategies and concepts, coach event teams and council staff, and collaborate with stakeholders to link events with broader strategies including economic and social impact.We work with regional and rural councils, regional tourism bodies, event volunteers, festival directors and committees, professional industry groups and key community groups to advance the professionalism and quality of regional and rural events throughout Australia.

When I first started studying my Tourism degree at Southern Cross University in 1999, I never dreamed that today I would be running my own successful consultancy and working with some of Australia’s most iconic rural and regional destinations to positively impact their communities.Tilma Group has evolved since inception in 2008, going from a sole operator to having multiple employees, to moving states, but one thing has remained the same – our passion for rural and regional Australia and encouraging more people to explore the REAL Australia.Today, our small but agile team works one-on-one with clients from all over regional Australia, from bustling regional destinations to ‘two-man towns’, thriving rural tourism businesses and lone operators. We are on a mission to transform regional Australia with meaningful experiences, and we do this by supporting clients with destination development, experience design, capability building and strategic activation projects that achieve results and support their communities into the future.Supporting communities to thrive through the visitor economy is at the forefront of everything we do, and we don’t stop until we see the hard work, passion and dedication of our clients pay off.

I am honoured to have been a volunteer director of the peak national body for regional tourism. My position on the Board involved project managing the exciting national Agritourism project, with strategic partners such as Austrade, National Farmers Federation and Australian Local Government Association.

I am contracted by Junee Shire Council to develop their tourism development plan and carry out the action plan. This is an exciting role in a very passionate and focused community.In 2011 I worked closely with industry and local government to develop a new tourism model for local shires. We drive tourism from the industry up, rather than Local Government down!
