I have now been a Quantity Surveyor in New Zealand for more than 10 years and its still a career I love and am passionate about.Starting my career in West Auckland at Focus Construction I developed skills in estimating and project financial management, as well as management of small projects directly with our builders and project stakeholders. This experience gave me great initial experience of what it takes to deliver a project and satisfy client goals and expectations.In 2017 I moved back down to my hometown of Hamilton to work for Hawkins Construction. Here i was able to gain experience working on site on large commercial projects as a projects QS. At Hawkins I had plenty of experience in procurement and financial management of large subcontract packages as well as pricing and substantiating variations and insurance claims. This role also gave me lots of experience working with client PM's and QS's and managing those relationships while still achieving the best possible outcome for Hawkins.Last year I moved down to beautiful Wanaka to embrace my passions of skiing and mountain biking as well as embark on my new adventure working for Calder Group who are a local commercial design and build company. At Calders I am gaining valuable experience in the design and build game as well as the precast concrete and structural steel trades, both of which Calders produce in house.
