-Investigator of NSF project #1254679: CAREER: Axiological Modeling and Simulation for Value-Sensitive Infrastructure Project Planning and Design-Discovered and analyzed stakeholder values (e.g., environmental, social, and economic values of owners, contractors, designers) of buildings through interacting with stakeholders -Developed innovative axiology (theory of value)-based mathematical valuation models for quantifying and aggregating the value (worth) of buildings based on stakeholder values and the properties of buildings -Integrated the axiological model with BIM to facilitate building information extension, extraction, and filtration in supporting value analysis for buildings -Developed a semantic BIM-integrated automated value analysis and assessment prototype system -Studied and analyzed the impact of alternative design decisions on the values of different types of buildings (e.g., apartment building, office building, school building) to different stakeholders based on real projects-Investigator of Project of Context-Aware Epistemic Model for Sustainable Construction Practices (SCPs)-Developed an epistemic model (semantic model) for representing and reasoning about acquiring knowledge of sustainable construction practices in a context-aware manner -Implemented the semantic model in supporting information search and retrieval in the SCP domain through semantic query expansion-Evaluated the epistemic model by expert interviews, automated consistency checking, answering competency questions, and information retrieval applications
