• Acting as the lead full-time buyer for ten client accounts within the construction industry (builders, developers and groundworkers) – dealing with their procurement of building materials and plant hire • Taking all orders from clients via phone, email or text; and recording them accurately for myself and colleagues to refer back to • Placing client orders with the most competitive supplier (considering price, stock, delivery lead time) • Electronically creating a Purchase Order for every order placed, emailing them to suppliers to ensure a constant paper trail and constantly updating order/delivery trackers • Creating and maintaining electronic folders for each client (that they have access to for complete transparency for the buying team and the client) • Using the order/delivery trackers to compile a weekly report for each client on both that week, and the one ahead • Working to client budgets, using spreadsheets to show how much of their budget has been spent, and on what – and feeding that information back to them so they can see how their budget is spent between different aspects of their builds • Overseeing bids/quotation requests, responses, analysis and awarding • Working with Architects and Quantity Surveyors to ensure alignment between their plans/drawings and our ordering • Working with multiple suppliers, building friendly yet professional long-lasting relationships• Working closely with suppliers to set pricing terms for all our clients; undertaking constant negotiation (due to yearly price increases)
